A Surron alternative under $5,000, for riders who want it in Utah, is a lightweight e-moto you can stand next to in West Jordan and bring back when something breaks. Most Surron-alternative posts ship a mail-order bike from California. This one is for Utah riders who want that lightweight e-moto feel, a price under $5,000, and a shop that will wrench it after the weekend.
Drafted October 2026. Prices are our floor prices as of October 2026. We do not sell Surron or Talaria.
By BHive Moto, West Jordan.

What people mean when they say Surron
They usually mean a light, throttle-only electric dirt bike with pegs, not a pedal bike with a marketing sticker. In that conversation, “Light Bee” is the smaller, lighter class and “Ultra Bee” is the bigger bike. We are not going to invent Surron horsepower, battery amp-hours, or a top speed to make a comparison chart look scientific. We do not stock the brand, and a copied spec from a forum is how people get surprised. If you want that feel from a bike we can sell you today, under $5,000, look at Rerode, RFN, and Valtinsu. Drift Hero dirt bikes are in our admin catalog as unlisted products, not on the public floor collection, so they are not in the table below.
Why buy local
A crate bike still needs a setup. Axle torque, brake feel, tire pressure, and a first check after the initial rides are the difference between a good weekend and a truck ride home. We do that here, then we are still the service bay when the chain, the tire, or the Utah grit shows up. Other Utah warehouses exist. We are not interested in trash talk. If you bought the bike somewhere else, including a Surron-class bike, you can still bring it to the service center. Parts availability varies by brand. Warranty questions are easier when the selling shop is the one holding the tool.
Financing is on our site. Terms are not something we will invent in a blog post. Read flexible financing and ask the shop what you qualify for.
Surron alternative under $5,000: what we stock
These are active products with inventory, priced as of October 2026. Power and speed are the manufacturer figures printed on the product page, not a dyno sheet from our parking lot. Seat height is listed only when the page states it.
| Model | Price | Power | Top speed | Seat | Who it’s for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Valtinsu EM-5 | $969 | 3,840W peak | 40 mph | 28.3 in | Lower seat, first e-moto |
| Valtinsu EM-5 Pro | $1,699 | 5,600W | 52 mph | Not listed | More speed, still under $2,000 |
| Valtinsu EM-5 Ultra | $2,199–$2,399 | 8,000W peak | 56 mph | 31.5 in | Compact adult bike |
| RFN Warrior SX-E5 | $2,599 | 5 kW peak | Up to 40 mph | 24–26 in | Youth, not an adult Light Bee stand-in |
| RFN Warrior SX-E8 | $3,599 | 8 kW peak | Up to 53 mph | 29.3 in | Advancing youth, 65cc-class size |
| Rerode R1 | $3,850 | 10 kW | 55 mph | About 32.9 in | Light adult e-moto, about 130 lb |
| Rerode R1+ | $4,250 | 17 kW | About 59 mph | About 33.3 in | Harder trail use, still under $5,000 |
Left out on purpose: RFN Warrior SX-E15 at $5,499 and SX-E15 Plus at $5,649, Rerode R1+S at $5,200, and Rerode RX at $6,200. They are real bikes in the catalog. They are not a Surron alternative under $5,000. The wider price sort is best electric dirt bikes under $5,000. Brand shelves: Rerode, RFN, Valtinsu, and the full electric motorcycle collection.
Rerode R1 next to a Light Bee-class bike
People cross-shop the R1 against a Light Bee because both are light throttle dirt bikes. Here is what we can actually say. The Rerode R1 on our floor is 10 kW, 72V 35Ah, 55 mph, about 130 pounds, seat about 32.9 inches, $3,850 as of October 2026. Hydraulic discs, aluminum frame, and a listed ideal range up to 75 miles, which will not survive a wide-open sand day. We are not filling a second column with Surron numbers we did not measure and do not sell. If your requirement is “I want to sit on it and have a Utah shop own the first service,” the R1 is the bike we will walk you to. The R1+ is the same conversation with 17 kW and a 72V 40Ah pack at $4,250.

How to choose once you are in the building
Sit on the bike before you fall in love with the watt number. The Valtinsu EM-5 seat is 28.3 inches. The EM-5 Ultra is 31.5. The Rerode R1 is about 32.9 and the R1+ about 33.3. A rider who is flat-footing the Ultra may be on their toes on the R1. That is a fit fact, not a quality ranking. Youth bikes stay in the youth row. The RFN SX-E5 is a 5 kW bike with a 24- to 26-inch seat for a smaller rider. The SX-E8 is the next chassis, 29.3 inches, up to 53 mph, built around a 65cc-class kid. Neither one is the adult Surron substitute, even though both are under $5,000 and honestly fast.
Power is the second cut. Under $2,000, the EM-5 Pro at $1,699 is the 5,600-watt, 52 mph bike, and the base EM-5 is the 40 mph, $969 bike. The Ultra, from $2,199 in black, is 8,000 watts peak and 56 mph with a 72V 25Ah Samsung pack. The R1 at 10 kW and the R1+ at 17 kW are the step into a lighter full-size feel without crossing $5,000. If someone online told you a 25 kW bike is a $4,000 Surron alternative, they are not describing our R1+S. That one is $5,200. It stays off this list.
Use matters more than a forum tier list. Private property and tight trails favor the lighter R1 or the shorter Ultra. A dune day favors the larger R1+ pack, 72V 40Ah, and a tire choice you make on purpose. We wrote the terrain version separately. Bring the park name when you come in. We will not pretend every bike under $5,000 is the same motorcycle with a different sticker.
What the price does not include
Under $5,000 does not include a street title, insurance, or a promise that the bike is legal on a Salt Lake County road. It also does not include a Surron badge. If the goal is the logo, we are the wrong store. If the goal is a throttle dirt bike you can service in Utah without shipping a swingarm to another state, start with the table. First service and setup are part of how we sell a Rerode. Ask what is included on the bike you are buying instead of assuming every brand’s listing matches. Helmets, a whip flag for the dunes, and a charger that can live in the garage are extra. So is the trailer if you do not already have one. Budget those before you spend the last dollar of the bike budget on a bigger battery you will not use on a one-acre lot.
We also service Surron-class bikes you already own
Buying one from us is not a requirement. We work on Surron-class and Talaria-class bikes. Electric labor is $95 an hour. Tires, brakes, and suspension are quoted. Parts for a brand we do not sell can take longer. Call before you assume a rotor or a battery is on the shelf. None of that service makes the bike street legal. Read whether an electric dirt bike is street legal in Utah before you ride it to the shop on a public road. Trailer it if it is not titled as a motorcycle.
FAQs
What is the best Surron alternative under $5,000?
On our floor, the Rerode R1 at $3,850 is the light adult e-moto we point Light Bee shoppers to. If the budget is tighter, the Valtinsu EM-5 Ultra from $2,199 is the compact 8,000-watt bike. “Best” still depends on seat height and where you ride.
Is Rerode comparable to a Surron Light Bee?
It is the same kind of machine: a light, throttle electric dirt bike with pegs. The R1 we stock is 10 kW, about 130 pounds, and 55 mph. We will not invent a Surron spec to declare a winner.
Can BHive Moto service a Surron?
Yes. We service Surron-class bikes we did not sell. Parts availability varies, and the labor rate for electric work is $95 an hour. We do not have Surron bikes in stock to sell.
Are these street legal in Utah?
No, not out of the box. They are off-highway vehicles. Street use means motorcycle equipment, registration, insurance, and a license. Details are in our Utah laws post.
Test ride in West Jordan
See them on the floor. Financing is available. Ask us about a test ride when you come in. We would rather you sit on the R1 and the Ultra than argue from a screenshot. 5243 Wells Park Road, West Jordan. If you already know the budget band you want, start with the under-$5,000 guide and then come argue with the actual bikes.
